Geochemical Journal (GJ) is an open access journal from July 2013. Authors can choose to publish their papers open access or not. GJ publishes papers in five categories: Invited Reviews, Articles, Notes, Express Letters, and Critical Comments.

Editor's Choice Papers (Open Access / No Page Charge): Editorial Board chooses one paper per one issue.
Editor's Choice Special Issues (Open Access / No Page Charge): Editorial Board chooses Special Issues.
Under the new open access system, the author pays an Article Processing Charge and the open access papers will be available online free of charge to anyone immediately after the publication.
Article Processing Charge is ¥150,000 per paper. From 2013 to 2016, the Geochemical Society of Japan supports half of the charge, i.e., ¥75,000 is charged to authors. After the acceptance of the papers, editorial office will ask authors if they choose an open access or not.
