The Geochemical Society of Japan launched the "Geochemical Journal Award" as a 50th anniversary event in 2003. This award is given to the author(s) of the best paper(s) in Geochemical Journal published in the previous year. A prize of 330,000 yen is offered by an anonymous contributor. This award has been implemented each year and the winners so far selected by the editorial board include French, German and Japanese researchers.
The impact factor of Geochemical Journal is increasing year by year and the 2006 value announced in 2007 has exceeded one.
