e-Letter: Information for Contributors
General

  1. Manuscripts for the Journal should be sent to eps@terrapub.co.jp. Authors may be members or non-members of the five societies shown on the front cover and may be of any nationality.
  2. Only papers not previously published will be accepted, and emphasis is placed upon originality of concept or observation. The text should be clear and concise, and detailed technical descriptions shall be given only when the methods are new.

Manuscript Preparation

  1. Manuscripts should be written in English and should be typed with double spacing.
  2. Total page should not exceed 4 pages in print.
  3. Each manuscript should be organized in the following order: title, author's full name, affiliation, abstract, several keywords, text, acknowledgment, appendix, references.
  4. An abstract of not more than 200 words is requested. The abstract should be informative and include the principal findings and conclusions.
  5. PDF proofs will be sent to the author by e-mail, to be checked for printer's errors. After checking proofs, authors should send a list of corrections.
  6. References should be given in the text by quoting the author's name and the year of publication, i.e., Yamakawa (1980). Full references should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of each paper, and should appear as follows:
    Chapman, S. and J. Bartles, Geomagnetism, 272 pp., Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1940.
    Friedman, H., The sun's ionizing radiation, in Physics of the Upper Atmosphere, edited by J. A. Ratcliffe, 133 pp., Academic Press, New York, 1960.
    Yamakawa, M., The earth as a comet, J. Geomag. Geoelectr., 32, 600-611, 1980.

Formats of manuscript

  1. Acceptable formats are PDF (Portable Document Format), MS Word, PS (PostScript), and LaTeX.

Formats of figures

  1. Acceptable formats are TIFF, PICT, PostScript (PS and EPS), and PDF.
  2. When including labels in figures, please use Helvetica font whenever possible.

PDF: Setting Acrobat Distiller preferences

Colour Bitmap Images: 350 dpi
Greyscale Bitmap Images: 350 dpi
Monochrome Bitmap Images: 800 dpi
Compress Text and Line Art: Yes

Please also embed all fonts.

Final manuscript

  1. After acceptance, authors will be requested to provide production-quality electronic figures and the file of the manuscript in PDF and plain text (.txt) formats.
